You've been given a robot that can be trained to perform one standardized task perfectly, as often as necessary. What do you train it to do?

Dan Keyes: Cut my hair. I always need a haircut. No one knows how to give a good hair cut. But this robot is amazing. It always cuts my hair exactly how I want it. Maybe I'll train it to make me happy. Magic tricks and stuff. Wait, was I supposed to say "heal the sick"? Cause that would be dope.

You are seriously ill. There are two vaccines that will save your life, but both have side effects: one will permanently eliminate your sense of taste, and the other will permanently eliminate all feeling in your genitals. Which vaccine would you choose?

Dan Keyes: Holy smokes. I guess I would take the vaccine that eliminates taste. I fractured my skull when I was younger and lost my sense of taste completely for a few months. It wasnt so bad. Yeah it was, but I'd rather have no sense of taste than no sex. Actually, if I can still perform sexually, I might take the other one. I don't need to get off as long as whoever is doing me is having fun. And if I can't feel anything downstairs I could probably do it for hours -- days if she wanted me to. Weeks even. Damn, I could be famous. Forget a career in music -- I want that vaccine.

Somehow you've gotten into a fight with someone twice your size. Where do you aim the first punch?

Dan Keyes: The throat. Crush the windpipe and that frat boy is down for the count. Or maybe his girlfriend. Yeah, I would punch her stupid ass for being hooked up with such a homophobic boner. I'm pissed.

The "fast-forward" and "skip" buttons on all your stereo equipment are broken, and you can't afford to repair them right now. For the time being, you can only listen to albums from beginning to end, without skipping any songs. What albums in your collection are still listenable?

Dan Keyes: Radiohead's Kid A -- I never get tired of that album. Umm... Ben Folds' Whatever and Ever Amen... kick ass record. Sunny Day Real Estate's How It Feels to Be Something On is an amazing album. Weezer's Blue Album and Texas is the Reason's Do You Know Who You Are -- I could live off of those records for a long time.

You've somehow been given the chance to spend the day with a character (not an actor) from any film or television program. Who do you choose?

Dan Keyes: Tyler Durden from Fight Club. Lots of fun. I need to learn how to kick ass also. Tyler would kick some tail for me. And get some tail for me. He's playa made.

If you could instantly learn to play one instrument that you don't currently play, what would it be?

Dan Keyes: Definitely piano. I wanna rock out on a piano so bad, be a pop super star. I'm gonna learn how to play that thing some day.

The people of the town where you were born want to name a building after you. They've asked you to choose the sort of building that best matches your personality. What kind of building do you choose?

Dan Keyes: A cafeteria, 'cause I like to think I have a little something for everybody, heehee... Psyke. How about a skating rink, 'cause skating rules, brah. Or a skyscraper, 'cause I'm a tall lean son of a gun. Oh, match my personality? Whatev. A school, 'cause I'm about to school you tricks. I can't answer this question because I don't know enough about buildings. Thanks for making me feel inadequate. Bastards. A warehouse, 'cause I'm all empty inside. Naw... A girls' dorm. Snap!

What animal would you most like to house in your back yard, if you could?

Dan Keyes: Animals belong in the wild. I wish my backyard was a jungle. But for now, my dog is pretty dope. His name is Peter and he is very smart and so sweet. Although an alligator has a strange appeal to it.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Dan Keyes: He-man. No joke. I always wore a cape (a pillowcase) and carried a plastic sword. I would yell "by da baco" -- translation: By the Power of Greyskull. I miss being a kid. I'm still working on being He-Man.

What's the best advice you've ever received? Who gave it to you?

Dan Keyes: I was 15 and applying for a job making sandwiches or something, and the guy wouldn't give me an application. He was like twenty-something and he said "How old are you? Go as long as you can without working. It traps you...Once you start working you can never stop. It feels good to have money but the responsibility is horrible." He said some other stuff too. Moral: adult responsibilty sucks and so does making sandwiches. I hate working so much. I wanna produce records, not wait tables.

You've been invited to perform as the middle act in a three-act bill. You get to choose the other two artists. Who opens for you, and who follows you?

Dan Keyes: Zero Zero opens the show because they are so rad. They make me feel happy and want to dance. Everyone writes sad or pissed music these days but Zero Zero keeps it real. And Avail will headline. They get it crunk and the kids go berserk. I love Avail.

You've been placed in the Witness Protection Program, and must change your name. You're able to pick your new name. What do you call yourself?

Dan Keyes: Eli Honeycutt. I'll mow lawns and stuff. Seduce house wives. Sound good? Rad.

What lesson should the world learn from the failure of all those dotcom businesses?

Dan Keyes: Cool your jets. Don't get wrapped up in the hype.

Thanks to a breakthrough in technology, you can have a perfect memory-recording of one event in your life. Everything is included --taste, smell, sound, vision and feeling; it basically means that you can relive the event over and over again. What event would you want to relive?

Dan Keyes: The first time me and my wife get home from the hospital with our new baby. That will be and feel so amazing. That's a long time from now. I'll be all grown up.

Which is more dangerous in the wrong hands -- guns or knowledge?

Dan Keyes: Knowledge. Any dildo can get a gun and start capping peeps, but knowledge can influence people and start revolutions. Bring it down!
