The 16 Stupidest Record Store Questions of the 2001 Holiday Season

Editor's Note: This is the second year of Jason's Stupid Record Store Questions list. Read the original here.

Christmas is a time of wonder, of joy, of being with friends and family...and when you work in retail, it's also a time of of utterly stupid questions. I work in a record store, and while that might lead some of you to believe that we see a more upscale clientele who wouldn’t dare ask any asinine questions, that couldn’t be further from the truth. So, in the spirit of giving and unity, I offer this "best of" list of this season’s stupidest queries. I haven't provided any commentary or context; these questions are stupid enough to stand on their own.

"Do you sell Bears tickets?"

"Where would I find the Gwar Christmas album?"

"Do you have any Slipknot black-light posters?"

"I’m looking for that one by those guys who always wear black."

"There wouldn’t be much swearing on a 2Pac record, would there?"

"Could you transfer this CD onto 8-track for me?"

"Why are there so many Beatles records?"

"What’s with all the George Harrison stuff? Did he die or something?"

"Where do you keep the fuses?"

"Can you get pickups for a '68 Telecaster?"

"Would you happen to have any FDNY caps?"

"Where do you keep the Emo?"

"Why don’t you have any MP3s?"

"I need something for a four year old girl, what would you recommend?"

"This new U2 band really came outta nowhere, huh?"

"Do you have the one by that guy? The one with the hair?"

-- Jason Jackowiak

Think you're some sort of clever boots? Why not send us your damn list? Come up with a creative topic and make certain to include artist, title, and label information. If we use your list, we'll send you some sort of prize...most likely a Splendid t-shirt. Or not, if you'd rather we don't.
