16 COLLABORATIONS WE'D LIKE TO SEE (BUT ALMOST CERTAINLY WON'T)
The music scene is an incestuous place, and it seems like bands are always trading members, borrowing members and otherwise mixing and matching. We think it could be taken even further, shaking the stodgy foundations of a bunch of established artists and groups. These team-ups won't happen -- in a few cases because the artists in question are deceased, or have broken up -- but we sure wish they would.
David Bowie (circa Ziggy Stardust) and Stereolab
G. G. Allin and Belle and Sebastian
The Jody Grind and the Glenn Miller Orchestra
Wesley Willis and Neutral Milk Hotel
Roger Miller and the Handsome Family
Iggy Pop and Elf Power
Shania Twain and Slayer (doing Public Enemy's "911 is a Joke")
Charles Mingus and Fela Kuti
Godspeed You Black Emperor and Kevin Shields
Sleater-Kinney and Ministry's Al Jourgensen
Morrissey and Fear
David Bazan (Pedro the Lion) and Orbital
David Thomas (Pere Ubu) and Beulah
J. Robbins producing the Ramones
Tom Baker and the Chemical Brothers
Billie Holiday and Tortoise
