1. Momus, "Marquis of Sadness" -- a duet for Prince and a young actress
2. Marvin Gaye, "I Met a Little Girl" -- a fave from the Here My Dear
CD
3. Ray Wylie Hubbard, "If Heaven Is Not a Place to Go"
4. Built to Spill, "Big Dipper" -- something to show off Prince's guitar
work
5. Grant Hart, "Think It Over Now"
6. Super Furry Animals, "Keep the Cosmic Trigger Happy" -- Prince can make
the "trigger" mean whatever he likes
7. Sly and the Family Stone, "Spaced Cowboy" -- a yodelling Prince is even
cooler than a yodelling Sly
8. Any song by Dump -- as payback for Dump's fantastic EP of Prince
covers
9. Pulp, "Common People" -- the words will be even funnier when coming from
Prince
10. Tom Russell, "Walkin' On the Moon" -- proof that I may want Prince to
cover any song I love
11. Rolling Stones, "Shine a Light" -- nice and spiritual
12. Mark Heard, "Orphans of God" -- as a bookend, perhaps, to Prince's
"The Cross"
13. Tullycraft, "Prince Songs Your New Boyfriend's Too Stupid to Know About"
-- Prince rewriting Sean
14. A spiritual, "My Redeemer Lives" -- But I'd prefer to hear Prince do a
whole album of religious songs as written by himself
15. Paul Westerberg, "It's a Wonderful Lie" -- It's better than most
Replacements songs, and the lyrics, even when paraphrased, seem to suit
Prince too ("am I all washed up, or is this just a pose?")
16. Randy Newman, "I Want You to Hurt Like I Do" -- A great anthem with lots
of soul, sad soul
17. Rolling Stones, "Rip This Joint" -- When he was still a symbol, I wish
Prince did the whole Exile album so that we'd now have a male, a
female, and an "inbetween" version...
18. Freedy Johnston, "Bad Reputation" -- Though I get the impression Freedy
might deserve his
19. Tori Amos, "Winter" -- Prince is a great pianist, and I'm curious how
he'd compare to Tori's classic
20. Flipper, "Sex Bomb" -- I think Prince could make this into another "Sexy
M.F."
