The first thing you'll notice about Caro Snatch, aka Caroline Churchill, is the accent. So deliciously novel is her British drawl -- her perfectly erratic inflections -- that the music itself becomes almost secondary. Still, it's this balance that makes Caro's first EP so appealing. The organic nature of her voice, immediately noticeable though it is, fuses seamlessly with expansive electro-industrial soundscapes. It's not unlike the soundtrack to Dancer in the Dark, and Caro herself sounds at times like the British version of Björk. But before all the accusations of blasphemy start rolling in, let's just temper that statement with the acknowledgement that while Caro would fall in the same category of unconventional vocalists, she doesn't have the same haunting, ethereal quality. What she has instead is a certain near-mystic, practically-pagan aesthetic -- approachable, if somewhat cryptic. Couple this with the album's experimental mixes, and you've got the ideal soundtrack for any number of unconventional/niche parties. It's fantastic mood music, assuming the mood is smartly quirky.
