Snuff
The United States Customs Office must've let this one slip past them, as Fat Wreck imports the latest musical mayhem from these slightly off-kilter Englishmen. Similar to 1997's release, Snuff combines swift punk rock riffs with a horn section to produce an amalgamation of Fat Wreck punk. However, Tweet Tweet My Lovely overshadows the band's '97 effort tremendously in that there aren't any filler tunes. With a stinging kick in the tooter, "Ticket" may be the sharpest tune on the CD, with its gruff and muted guitar that meshes almost perfectly with the pounding drums, melodious backup vocals and gravelly '79-era vocals. While the horn-powered tunes come later in the track listing, "Brickwall" and "Arsehole" use marching-band horn arrangements to accentuate the rhythm-heavy feel, making it practically impossible not to hum along upon your second listen. Add some spicy Hammond Organ and self-deprecating English humour and you have a CD that's musically varied yet retains a solid identity that can be classified as exclusively "Snuff-Brand." Now, as long as you don't stick it up your nose, or in between your teeth 'n' gums, you'll stay in fine shape...
