Christ. I think this is the first CD I've listened to in some time that has undeniably confused me. I'm frightened -- very, very frightened. Seemingly European, and overtly eccentric, the Rancho Relaxo Allstars crank their musical valves to "OPEN" and let the experimental deliberations flow. With influences ranging from sampled voices to "La Macarena" to electronica, there's no way of pinpointing or predicting what the Allstars will do from track to track. Live at Luv Parade mixes some parts Negativland, some parts My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and slathers the two with a hefty spreading of Rancho Relaxo Brand brain eruptions. While the lack of song titles makes things even more confusing, Track 3 pragmatically incorporates spacey keyboard runs over a pulsating rhythmic beat. Track 4 starts off with Spanish verbalizations that are effected in such a way that it sounds like a Spanish vampire from outer space is addressing you via your stereo. Help! Mommy! Get the wooden stake! With equally entertaining liner note blurbs and pictures, Live at Luv Parade is a well packaged CD that needs to be added to your collection.
