I was out to get Lagwagon on this release. Get 'em good. I'm not exactly sure why, though -- maybe it was just a pop-punk lynch mob in disguise as a lame record reviewer. Anyway, here I am holding the noose, looking like a dope, and Lagwagon escapes unscathed with another one of their patented pop-punk releases that's even catchier than last year's Double Plaidinum. "After You My Friend" and "Gun In Your Hand" are melodic, but not in the traditional chorus/verse/chorus way. Vocalist Joey C. spins his stories and commentaries with his slightly off-key and sniveling voice, but the maturity and complexity of Lagwagon shine through as these tunes are dense enough for true musical-lasting-power. There's no immediate-gratification-and-then-forget-the-tune-existed stuff here. Listening to Let's Talk About Feelings will surely etch Lagwagon's logo onto your right frontal lobe -- for good. Yow. On the amplification side of things, both guitarists know just when to throw out a thick and juicy power chord, but they don’t just play at light speed through each song (though "Hurry Up and Wait" scorches in at under a minute). Want more? With some choice samples placed in between songs, and an amusing front cover which is either a fine advertisement for dentistry or plastic surgery (I can't figure out which), here's a full bodied package that's quicker, smarter and wittier than you, yet it only takes one Alexander Hamilton to purchase. What a steal...
