Based on just about the exact opposite end of the Earth from me, this quartet embraces its Sydney,
Australia roots while sweetly blending in bits of The Clouds and Velocity Girl into a
synthesis of fuzzed out pop music that bleeds euphonious naiveté. Kim and Danielle's twin
vocals ring in a familiar harmony, balancing beautifully with needling guitar
lines that have just as much in common with Mudhoney's superfuzz-bigmuff riffs as they do
with the intricate notes of indie-rock-infused intimacy a la The Pixies. "Easy Come" waltzes forward with confidence; its accessible chord changes will have you jubilantly swaying to and fro after only a few seconds. Twelve24 switches gears and takes the low-key road as they end All In Focus with the serene ballad "Velouria." With carefully plucked guitar notes and warm vocals, the closing track smoothly escalates into a wonderful display of pop mastery that flares out at just the right time. Carefully balancing a mature poise with the skill to keep things interesting without ever going overboard, Twelve24 have found their niche in the seemingly infinitely-populated world of indie music, while craftily expressing their own unique form of moody pop.
