![]() | Personally, I'm not a Beck fan in the least. The question is, are the various mastermind artists behind Deconstructing Beck fans of Beck? The mystery may remain unresolved, but regardless, here's another fine example of something that needs to happen more often, the analysis of pop culture through its own pop culture mediums. Deconstructing Beck is a harrowing journey through 13 tracks that are created entirely from Beck samples. The self encompassing madness of Jane Dowe's "Puzzels and Pagans" sounds like a car stereo that flips incessantly from station to station, and every DJ IS PLAYING BECK! That's sure to drive me off the road. "Burning Today's Memory" by Corporal Blossom examines his holy Beckness from a more experimental frame of mind -- as an amalgamation of frequencies surface into an oxymoronical, repetitively linear composition. An interesting spinoff that mocks while it appreciates its own medium. Here's a rare release that's necessary for both those fans and those despising of Beck.
