![]() | You may be sick of pop punk or even averse to my writing about it, but if you're going to give one band out of the power-punk scene a chance, No Use For a Name deserves your vote. This musical outfit has been based out of Sunnyvale, California since 1987, whipping up a mean batch of Bad Religion harmonized punk with NOFX hyperspeed musical backings. NUFAN's latest outing may not enlighten you with newfangled music ideas, but they do demonstrate solid songwriting, glistening on tracks such as "Revenge" where the catchy chorus will stick in your head like a smashed roach on the bottom of your shoe. "The Answer Is Still No" starts the album with a less than verbose "Fuck You" and proposes some puissant topics, exhibiting NUFAN's marked lyrics that actually have something to say. The double bass drumming can go a bit overboard, and at times even overpower the guitars. However, you get a secret bonus track of Kiss’ "Beth" and personal kudos go out to the burning boy scout on the front cover; Burn baby burn... | |||||
