Long before most of us knew what the fuck was going on in the music world, the united Nation of Ulysses was covertly undermining the American government with a maniacal execution of mind, sound and body. With a determined look and a sense of calculated panic, these young Washington D.C. lads recorded The Embassy Tapes back in 1992. And just as the music of Ulysses helped to spark the revolution against the dreaded George Bush regime back in its time, the band has once again been called upon to help fight off the terrible possibility that George's son could take the throne and blank this country's youth. Focus those eyes and perk up your ears -- we're talking a national emergency here!

For those of you who are in need of some initiation, The Nation of Ulysses brought to us salacious, squawking guitars and the unbridled energy that spewed -- seemingly without end -- from the unforgettable Mr. Ian Svenonious. The Embassy Tapes may have been recorded on a lowly four-track, but its power preaches to a new generation. "Hex-Proof" places a shroud of protection around those in its immediate aural vicinity. "Gimme Disaster" has the Ulyssians barrel through an uptempo number, scattering the seeds of dissonance and disgust with the quick beating of the drum kit, a smattering of guitar deconstruction cascading its flurry of notes upon you. Showing signs of a future in noisy, disgusting R&B, "Last Train to Cool" takes turns wooing its admirers with off-key trumpets and sweaty, swaying rhythmic lines from these dangerous-yet oh-so-likable cults of personality. Previous Ulyssian passport holders will appreciate the raw quality of The Embassy Tapes; it'll breathe new life into your weathered N.O.U. catalog. Curiosity seekers, open-minded musical enthusiasts and underhanded government agents will all be in awe of the Nation's charisma, not to mention their talent for emitting jarring guitar chords, confusingly complex melodies and the ultimate in cultural subversion.

If you thought the Nation of Ulysses had signed a treaty with all things square, or relegated itself to a life of mindless conformity, you're sorely mistaken. The war wages on...with an even more deliberate sense of urgency. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we hope you haven't given up the fight. It may be easy to kill a person, but it takes more than the passing of time to destroy a Nation.
