![]() | I'm never quite sure what to expect from Pigface. They're so much more than an "industrial supergroup", as they've been described repeatedly. In this particular instance, they've provided a mind-bending potluck of industro-psychedelia, driven by more of those trademark drumbeats hard enough to make a Led Zep fan cry. This means you get to enjoy the sitar/industrial combination of "Kiss King (high high high)" and "More", the tribal Revco raveup "Burundi", the Chemical sounding "Methylated", and plenty of other cuts that veer as wildly across the stylistic landscape as you'd expect from a huge musical collective like Pigface. As always, an appreciation of the Chicago mid-era Wax Trax industrial scene in which Pigface was spawned is helpful, but not required. A New High in Low also sports a second, "bonus" disc -- this one a dub/chillout sort of arrangement, boasting three long tracks and no particular agenda. Though it's not without its merits, I suggest you try the "main" disc first. | |||||
