Liam Lynch -- of MTV's Sifl and Olly -- turns in this album-length cash-in on his single "United States of Whatever", and "whatever" is about as good a description as you can get. The twenty tracks here are supposed to be funny, but they're just not. "Still Wasted From the Party Last Night", "I'm All Bloody Inside", and "Electrician's Day" are about as funny as their song titles, which is to say they're not not funny, but they're not overwhelmingly amusing, either. Lynch just doesn't seem to be trying very hard. The two best songs here are "Fake David Bowie Song" and "Rock and Roll Whore", but even those are funniest because they're reminiscent of Tenacious D (the latter song even features Jack Black). There is also a fake Björk song, as well as Pixies, Depeche Mode, and Talking Heads. You might think the parodies would be scathing, but they're not -- they just sound like boring Xeroxes. I don't know how Lynch has gotten a hit on his hands, nor how he got a record deal, nor how he got Ringo Starr (!) to play on two of the tracks here. I hope he stuffed whatever handfuls of cash he got into a good investment plan, because I'd be shocked if anyone ever hears another peep from this guy after "United States of Whatever" leaves the airwaves. This shit is boring. Whatever -- you said it, Liam.
